Thanks for sharing what you use. I'm an absolute Wordpress noob and this really does help a lot. It's my hope to have a site someday that doesn't actually make anyone's eyes bleed after looking at it.

Stopping by from SITS. This is a great article, and a good reminder for me to get my own domain name. I know it's available and I'm not ready to make the switch but I need to secure it for when I am.

Chitika has been undergoing a lot of changes lately but the things I still really like about them (that they don't show ads to regular visitors and they have no minimum payout and pay every month) still hold true.

FWIW, I signed up with Chitika on February 28th, 2010 after Carrie tweeted about it. I was told it would take 3-4 weeks to process my application. Carrie told me she'd been approved the same day (she said it was about six months ago). That must have been when Chitika was in its infancy... On April 13th I got another email saying they were still processing and overwhelmed with all the applicants. However, if I earned over $10,000 month with Google Ads I should call them directly. Uh, yeah. If I were earning $10K month from Google, I might not concern myself with Chitika. :-D On May 14th, they sent another apology email and said they were still getting to my application. If it takes three months or longer just to get approved you should probably sign up as soon as possible so as to cut down on the waiting time.

Great post with very helpful advice for new bloggers. I have only started using a related links plugin a few days ago. What I didn't like about most is the way they automatically come up with related posts, since I prefer to choose the related posts manually. Not sure you can do that with the one you mentioned, but I found "Microkid's related posts" and am very happy with it.

Excellent posts, with wonderful tips!
I'd love to see an article explaining affiliates more in detail, since it seems to be way over my head!
