I’d get an iPad if they weren’t going to charge me another $30 a month for a second unlimited data plan.
I love my iPhone and I love having the unlimited data plan for it. I use the data plan infinitely more than I use the actual phone part.
Sometimes when I’m reading my Kindle for iPhone books I do wish the screen were a bit larger (maybe we could fit more than three sentences on a page?). I do wish I could see my calendar in weekly view. I do wish the screen were large enough I could actually blog on the go. I’d love to have an iPad for when I travel: my iPhone is a bit too small to handle all my computing on the go needs and my 15″ MacBook Pro is just heavy enough that I whine about lugging it around airports and have decided that for most trips I’m better off without it.
I’d be all over the iPad except for that additional monthly fee. And based on my iPhone usage I know I’d get lots more use out of the 3g version than just the wi-fi version.
Why can’t my iPhone and an iPad share my existing 3g unlimited data plan? I understand the need to charge for at least one because all that 3g data usage is putting a huge load on the network, but it’s not like I’m going to be using one device with each hand. I won’t be putting any more load on the network if I had two devices.

This is the very reason I jail broke my iPhone 3GS. I can now share my data connection from my phone to my ipad wifi. It does run down my battery on my phone but it works in a pinch.
I also bought my iPad because I was tired of reading my kindle books on my phone. Ive found now I prefer reading in iBooks than in the current kindle app. Now off to Barnes and Noble to download my free ebook for their new ereader for iPad.
I’d love to have one too, after playing briefly with a friend’s new ipad… but seriously, how are you going to use both at the same time… they have to come up with a way to share… ( I adore my iphone too… I’m on it CONSTANTLY!)
I’m confused. Does the iPad work if you have a wireless internet connection at home?
it does but, for example, we don’t have wireless internet at my workplace
