Get Ready for Apple Bingo with Me

August 30, 2010 · 3 comments

Engadget is reporting there will be an Apple event at 10am Pacific time on September 1st.

I’ve got my bingo card and a highlighter ready so I can follow the gdgt live blog (written by former Engadget blogger Ryan Block). I’ll be tweeting as I score any major wins (like a 7″ iPad with iOS4 which I would order immediately) or wireless iPod syncing (which is the only thing that would make me want to replace the Nano that lives in my glove box).

I think we’re all pretty confident that there will finally be an Apple TV update. At the very, very minimum they at least need to push a software update for the existing Apple TV so that it doesn’t keep forgetting my wifi password but I expect we will see lots more than that.

I’m sure we’ll see an all new iPod line up. I expect the iPod Touch to become more like an iPhone sized iPad and there will be increased maximum storage capacity on all the other iPods.

The guitar on the event invitation makes me think that a Garageband software update is going to be a major item on the agenda and along with it I think we’ll see updates to all the other iLife software.

I’m still dreaming that when I park my car in the garage, the iPod Nano I keep in my glove box will automatically sync wirelessly with the computer in my house. That could be as simple as adding wifi to the iPods or as complicated as a cloud iTunes that could be accessed via MobileMe. The current Apple TV syncs wirelessly so it’s obviously doable.

And last but not least, we have my perpetual wishes to be able to sort my Address Book contacts by when and how often I call people and built in iTunes support to let me store my iTunes video files on a separate hard drive and the perpetual rumor of The Beatles on iTunes.

You can download a copy of my Apple Bingo card (PDF, 504kb) or a blank version (PDF, 287kb) to fill in with your own favorite rumors and wishes if you’d like to play along.
