Want to order something from the Apple store? Now there’s an app for that. While I find some of the features of this app handy: like you can see where the nearest Apple store is (say you’re traveling and forgot your charger and need to pick one up stat) or book an appointment at the genius bar, I wouldn’t actually use it for orders. Why? Because if you use a regular internet browser and click through eBates before placing your order with Apple you can get 1% cash back.
- I’ve tried Couch to 5k in the past but never been able to stick with it. Jamie Ann recommends an iPhone app to walk you through the program while you listen to your own music and that really appeals to me so I’ve downloaded the app and plan to give it another try soon.
- Formerly Gracie takes a look at why people choose to use real vs. fake names on the internet. I was particularly amused by the opinion that “We’re all one Google search away from getting fired, disinherited, and disowned”. For the record, my name really is Carrie.
- Semicolon reviews Cory Doctorow’s For the Win and tells you how and where to get the ebook free. I’ve heard great things about Doctorow’s books but haven’t actually read any of them yet so I got the PDF version of the ebook so I can read it while simultaneously testing out the new iBooks for iPhone app.
- Jessica embarks on Operation Unsubscribe. For those newsletters that you should read but never actually do, consider filters to keep them out of your inbox.

What the Next Apple TV Could and Should Be @Gizmodo I would kill for apps on my Apple TV. Some other wishes Apple TV related wishes I have include: it won’t forget sporadically forget my wireless network password, my laptop will not go to sleep while I’m streaming media from it to my Apple TV, and can we finally get some more control over the location our iTunes library is stored in? I really want to set separate locations for my apps and music (internal hard drive) and video (external hard drive).
Twitter Testing New “You Both Follow” Feature @Mashable This feature is going to be super useful. It’ll clue me into how I know new followers and I’ll be much more likely to follow them back. I think it’ll also do a lot of what lists were meant to do but in an automated way; when you see what people you have in common you’ll sort of know what group they belong in.
Vampire Shows Still Confuse Me @Free and Flawed I’m just starting season 6 of Buffy but I really enjoyed her “Angel and Spike were the original Team Edward and Team Jacob” summation.
Living The Examined Life: Personal Data Collection is a Powerful Tool for Change @Get Rich Slowly This is a topic I’m just obsessed with. Like I’ve said before, if I could have stats for everything I do I would. Personal data collection is one of the original features that got me sucked into my obsession with iTunes. I also just started playing with GoodReads to start collecting stats on my reading habits.
