I haven’t been buying much in the way of makeup for a few years now, but after attending Look Good, Feel Better, I’m starting to get back into it. Taking a few extra minutes decorating your face in the morning really does make you feel better when you’re hair is falling out and you’re feeling less than awesome.
I needed an eyebrow pencil since I didn’t have one and I’m starting to get hairless patches in my brows. I picked up MAC’s eyebrow pencil in Spiked. Also at MAC, I picked up Viva Glam V lipstick. The lipgloss version of this color has been my absolute favorite for ages so I thought it’d be nice to have the lipstick as well.
At Sephora, I got Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliner in Bourbon. I’m losing eyelashes quickly and apparently if you have no eyelashes then eyeliner becomes an absolute essential so I thought it’d be fun to have a new one for that.
I also wanted to get Stila’s Kitten Smudge Pot, which Product Girl says is the best of the whole Kitten line and I love everything else in the line, but it was sold out at Sephora. Today I was ordering flea medicine for my cat from drugstore.com so I also ordered the Kitten Smudge Pot from beauty.com to get up to the free shipping threshold.
My makeup came out awesomely perfect a couple times last week so I want to share with you my current “look”.
Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion – the world’s best eyeshadow base – $17
Urban Decay Sell Out Eyeshadow – the perfect shimmery but not too shimmery nude eyeshadow (if you ever tried Midnight Cowboy but wanted it without the glitter then this is the eyeshadow for you) – $16
Clinique Egyptian Cream Shaper – almost black but with just enough hints of green and gold glitter and it glides on so smoothly – $14.50
Add your favorite black mascara. My favorite is L’Oreal Voluminous which came in at least 4 different shades of black last time I needed to pick some up at the drugstore.
Cheeks
Stila Lillium Convertible Color – easy to work with cream blush in a wonderful nude-pink – $25 (weird bonus fact: when Estee Lauder sold off Stila it got bought by the same parent company that owns the Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation restaurant chain)
Lips
MAC Viva Glam V Lipglass – a creamy soft neutral pink, all proceeds of the Viva Glam line go towards the fight against AIDS – $14
Almost all of these items can be picked up at Sephora (except for the MAC lipglass – check for it at Macy’s or Nordstrom – and the L’Oreal mascara – check your local drugstore). Sephora’s annual Friends and Family sale is currently underway and will continue until November 2nd, 2009. Use the code FF2009 at checkout for 20% off almost everything. I’ve shopped that sale several years in a row now but I’m currently completely stocked up and don’t plan to make an order this year. If you’re placing an exciting order, tell me about it so I can live vicariously.
